Why go

Lingyin Temple (灵隐寺) is one of China’s oldest and largest Buddhist temples, founded in 326 AD in a wooded valley west of West Lake. Across the stream, Feilai Peak (飞来峰) is a limestone ridge carved with more than 300 Buddhist figures, the biggest such group in Zhejiang. One free reservation covers the peak, the temple and the smaller Yongfu and Taoguang temples. Entry is free but limited by timed, real-name booking, so book before you go.
