## Why go

Yuyuan Garden (豫园) offers a classical garden visit inside central Shanghai. Walk its narrow paths to see how pavilions, ponds, rocks and framed views make a small space feel layered. The surrounding Yuyuan Bazaar (豫园商城) and Nine-Turn Bridge (九曲桥) are a separate stop; seeing them does not mean you have entered the ticketed garden.

## What to do

- **Enter the garden.** Buy a daytime garden ticket at the North Gate (福佑路168号) or South Gate (豫园老街279号). The South Gate is for individual visitors only and sits by the Nine-Turn Bridge.
- **Follow the framed paths.** Slow down around the rockeries, ponds, dragon walls and roof details. A 2026 visitor specifically noticed the dragon walls and photo stops by the ponds; the tight paths are part of the design and can fill up.
- **See the bridge outside.** Before or after the ticketed garden, cross the Nine-Turn Bridge (九曲桥) beside Huxinting teahouse (湖心亭) in the surrounding bazaar. The bridge and shopping area do not use the regular garden ticket.

- Don't miss: The South Gate is at 279 Yuyuan Old Street, near the Nine-Turn Bridge; it is an actual garden entrance, not a mall gate.

- Best time: Near 09:00 for quieter paths
- Skip if: If narrow crowded paths make a garden unpleasant, consider the free bazaar walk only.

- **Find a garden ticket window.** To enter the classical Yuyuan Garden (豫园园林), go to its North Gate at 168 Fuyou Road (福佑路168号) or the individual-visitor South Gate at 279 Yuyuan Old Street (豫园老街279号), near Nine-Turn Bridge. Buy the daytime ticket at the gate or in the official 上海豫园 WeChat mini-program. Walking the surrounding bazaar is not garden admission.
