## Notices in effect

- 2026-10-07 to 2026-10-08: Park hours 10:00–20:00 (CityWalk 08:00–22:00) per the official Park Schedule.
- 2026-08-31 to 2026-11-06: Universal on Parade is temporarily suspended.
- 2026-09-04 to 2026-11-01: Scares @ Universal has limited nighttime opening dates; the operator app has the date-specific calendar.

## Why go

Universal Studios Beijing (北京环球影城) is a full-day theme park built around seven themed lands, rides and shows. It works best when you fix the visit date, decide which rides matter most and use the operator's live schedule. CityWalk and the resort hotels belong to the resort but sit outside this park's admission boundary.

## What to do

- **Pick your priority lands.** Choose a small number of the seven themed lands before arrival, such as The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Transformers Metrobase or Jurassic World Isla Nublar. The park says not every attraction can be completed in one operating day.
- **Use the live park schedule.** Open the official app or mini-program to see that day’s park and attraction hours and waiting times. Park hours change by date, so a fixed weekly opening table would mislead.
- **Make time for a show.** Check the day’s show schedule after entry and plan a ride route around one performance. Show capacity and entry times are separate from the general park ticket.

- Don't miss: Foreign citizens may enter with a physical passport under the operator Park Rules.

- Best time: At opening for a full park day

## Practical details

- **Hours:** Opening time varies by date
  - See the official Park Schedule for your date; early-entry products open earlier.
  - Earlier visitor reports differ: Boay (May 2026) and Jessie去哪里呀 (Dec 2025) write 09:00 openings, Jing En (May 2026) writes usually 09:30, and 77想吃冰淇淋_ writes in a Sept 2026 comment that the official opening time is now 10:00. The operator's Park Schedule is the reference.
- **Admission:** Ticketed · dated ticket from ¥350
  - Designated one-day ticket, starting price: ¥350 (Variable calendar price)
  - The official ticket page lists a starting price; actual price depends on selected date and product.
- **Booking:** Buy dated ticket; reserve flexible products
  - Universal Beijing Resort official app (北京环球度假区官方APP) — https://www.universalbeijingresort.com/en/app-miniprogram-download · passport: yes
  - Universal Beijing Resort (北京环球度假区) — WeChat → search 北京环球度假区 · passport: yes
  - Passport accepted: yes — Bring the physical valid passport linked to the ticket.
  - General admission/flexible-date entitlements and annual passes require a date reservation in the official app or mini-program.
- **Last admission:** Last park entry varies by date
- **Time to allow:** Full day · 8–10 hr
- **Getting there:** Lines 1 / 7 · Universal Resort · Exit B, C or D
  - Metro Line 1/7 to Universal Resort (环球度假区), Exit B, C or D, about 7 min walk
  - Show a taxi driver: 通州区北京环球度假区 北京环球影城主题公园入口
  - Exits B, C and D are about 7 minutes' walk to the CityWalk security check, the approach to the park gate. The operator also lists buses 589 and T116, plus a drop-off area for taxis and ride-hailing.
- **Foreign visitors:** Physical passport accepted for entry

## Traveler tips

- **Carry the physical passport.** The park rules list a passport or foreign permanent resident card as accepted identity proof for foreign citizens. Bring the physical document linked to the ticket. Staff can compare the document with the named admission entitlement. [source](https://www.universalbeijingresort.com/en/ubrbasepage/ruyuanxuzhi)
- **Choose the visit date before buying.** The official ticket page sells designated-date products with a variable price calendar. Select the actual visit day and read that product’s entry terms. The displayed ¥350 is only a starting price, not a guaranteed price for your date. [source](https://www.universalbeijingresort.com/zh_CN/tickets-offers)
- **Reserve flexible entitlements.** The park rules require a separate visit-date reservation for general admission or flexible ticket products and annual-pass rights. Use the official app, Alipay mini-program or WeChat mini-program to make that booking before travelling. [source](https://www.universalbeijingresort.com/en/ubrbasepage/ruyuanxuzhi)
- **Check the live hours.** Open the official Park Schedule for your specific date. Opening and closing times, ride availability and show schedules can change, so do not use a fixed weekday time copied from another visitor’s trip. [source](https://www.universalbeijingresort.com/en/park-schedule)
- **Prioritize a few lands.** The park lists seven themed lands and warns that a visitor may not see every ride in one operating day. Pick your key ride and one show first, then use live waiting times to choose the next area. [source](https://www.universalbeijingresort.com/en/ubrbasepage/ruyuanxuzhi)
- **Use the app before entry.** The official app and mini-program hold tickets, date reservations, schedules and guest-service directions. Save the booking information and check that each person’s identity details match the physical document. [source](https://www.universalbeijingresort.com/en/ubrbasepage/ruyuanxuzhi)
- **Plan luggage storage.** Large items go to staffed luggage storage before you enter, and the in-park lockers sit to the left of the Front Gate (about ¥60 a day on the operator's FAQ; a May 2026 blog quotes lower small and large rates). Some rides have their own free ride-side lockers, so expect to leave your phone there before boarding. _Caveat: Locker prices differ between the operator FAQ and the May 2026 blog; the park app and the locker area show the current rate. Jessie去哪里呀 (Dec 2025) says to note the locker number at the Forbidden Journey ride-side lockers and that bags are collected on the other side; she and 啥也不是 (Aug 2026, in her own comment) say to store bags before the Decepticon coaster, which turns riders upside down, and to keep pockets empty._ (4 travelers) [source](https://www.littledayout.com/universal-studios-beijing-china-travel/)
- **Autumn scare season: pick the night, and expect a long haunted-house line.** The operator's autumn event runs on selected nights and the parade is suspended during its published window. Check the app for the exact night and event timing; normal park admission does not itself tell you which seasonal maze is open. During the event the haunted house draws the evening's longest line: on a weekend, joining at 16:30 still meant nearly two hours of waiting outside the entrance. Plan for it, or skip it and enjoy the rides that empty out in the evening. _Caveat: The event and parade dates are from the operator's notice. The haunted-house wait is from 七濑 (Sept 2026); a masked commenter (Sept 2026, not counted) says the other rides are empty in the evening while everyone is at the haunted house._ [source](https://www.xiaohongshu.com/explore/6a9ee3fd0000000012034da8)
- **Keep CityWalk outside the park plan.** Universal CityWalk Beijing and the resort hotels are separate from the ticketed theme park. A CityWalk visit does not require you to buy the park ticket, and a hotel booking is not itself a park ticket. _Caveat: Check current hotel packages for any separately included admission._ [source](https://www.universalbeijingresort.com/en/ubrbasepage/ruyuanxuzhi)
- **Take the app, but an overseas number may not get the verification code.** Download the official Universal Beijing Resort app for live wait times, walking routes and show times. App registration can fail with an overseas phone number because the verification code may not arrive, so buy a dated ticket another way. _Caveat: doggyfrog54 (Reddit, Feb 2026) could not receive a verification code on an international number; Mark_E (Jul 2023, more than 12 months old) also reported overseas-number trouble. Jing En (May 2026) recommends checking the app for queue times. Reddit dates shown are thread dates; none is a statement from the operator._ (2 travelers) [source](https://forums.insideuniversal.net/threads/universal-beijing-trip-report.15971/)
- **Entry runs on the passport, not paper.** There are no paper tickets: the ticket is tied to your passport number, and you present the passport at the entrance. Nothing physical is issued, so buy online and carry the passport. _Caveat: Entry by passport matches the operator's Park Rules; the two authors describe their own visits only. 我猜你猜我是不是马玉梅 (Oct 2024, older than 12 months) lists a foreign-passport holder booking through the Universal app and entering by passport scan in a trip checklist; it does not say which phone number was used._ (2 travelers) [source](https://forums.insideuniversal.net/threads/universal-beijing-trip-report.15971/)
- **Arrive before opening and pick the lighter days.** Arrive 15–20 minutes before the opening time on the official Park Schedule for your date, and allow 8 to 10 minutes to walk from the globe to the gates. Monday to Thursday is quieter and cheaper; avoid Chinese public holidays and school breaks. Plan your route around show times so you can cover more attractions. _Caveat: Opening time varies by date and by early-entry products: Boay (May 2026) and Jessie (Dec 2025) write 09:00, Jing En (May 2026) writes 09:30, and the official Park Schedule lists 10:00 for 6–11 October 2026. 77想吃冰淇淋_ (a Monday in spring 2026) finished 15 rides and two meals and says weekdays have far fewer people; Jessie (Dec 2025) says Wednesday is quieter and Monday also busy; 老虎王 (a weekday in Jan 2026) found few queues but a dull park._ (4 travelers) [source](https://www.littledayout.com/universal-studios-beijing-china-travel/)
- **Pay with Alipay or WeChat and carry backup.** Digital payment through Alipay or WeChat Pay is the default across the park. Carry some cash and a credit card as a backup in case a card or app does not work. _Caveat: The operator does not state whether foreign cards work at the ticket office or in the park; these are single-author reports._ [source](https://thetravelintern.com/universal-studios-beijing-guide/)
- **Plan for limited English at ride level.** Signage across the park is in English and menus use pictures, but few staff speak English. Use the app's English interface for wait times and maps, and keep ride names in Chinese handy in case you need to ask. _Caveat: One 2023 report; staffing and signage may have changed._ [source](https://forums.insideuniversal.net/threads/universal-beijing-trip-report.15971/)
- **Use metro Exit B, C or D.** Take Line 7 or the Batong Line to Universal Resort Station (环球度假区站) and leave by Exit B, C or D. It is about a 7-minute walk to the CityWalk security check that leads on to the park gates. Buses 589 and T116 also serve the resort. [source](https://www.xiaohongshu.com/explore/69466fd4000000001e02b2aa)
- **Trip.com ticket works without a Universal account.** A Trip.com ticket bought with Alipay gives QR codes; at the gate you show your passport and have your face scanned. The passport then serves as your ticket, and no Universal app account is needed. You can also use WeChat to scan the QR on a signpost inside for show and queue times. _Caveat: geeky_pastimes (Reddit, Feb 2026) paid through Trip.com with Alipay and had 1.5-day tickets; trainerkittyk (Reddit) says to scan a signpost QR code with WeChat for show and queue times and did not use the app. Reddit dates shown are thread dates; this is one Alipay purchase route._ (2 travelers) [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/chinatravel/comments/1qvoi0l/universal_studios_beijing_tripcom_tickets_vs_app/)
- **Express pass: opinions split.** IVAN____W bought a fast track on a weekday in autumn, finished in 3–4 hours and says the longest line without it was about 1 hour (Harry Potter), with others at 20–40 minutes. Todd_H_1982 says to skip it: some rides run 40–50 minutes, most 20–40. In mid-August 2025 trainerkittyk met waits of 100–200+ minutes for a Transformers ride, found the express pass saved a lot of time and advised joining the queue at 07:30 to pass the gates around 09:00. _Caveat: Reddit dates shown are thread dates (trainerkittyk's visit was in August 2025). Masked commenters on Xiaohongshu (Aug 2026) split the same way: one says an all-rides pass is not needed with early entry and another strongly recommends it; they are not counted. An older July 2023 report (Mark_E, a summer weekday) logged morning standby waits of 15 to 100 minutes with accurate app wait times and much shorter evening queues after 18:00; single-rider lines existed at five attractions but were not running._ (3 travelers) [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/chinatravel/comments/1o20o2x/universal_studio_beijing_related_questions/)
- **The water show closes in the cold.** The waterworld performance closes in winter when temperatures drop to around 0 °C. _Caveat: Todd_H_1982 (Reddit, Apr 2026) says the Waterworld show closes in winter when it gets to 0 °C; the thread date is shown._ [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/travelchina/comments/1swurgv/universal_studios_beijing/)
- **Head for Harry Potter first, or come back at night.** The Forbidden Journey (禁忌之旅) in the Harry Potter land is the most queued ride. Go to it first thing after the gates open, when the land is nearly empty and good for photos, and leave the Hippogriff coaster (鹰马飞行) for dusk. Evening is the other quiet time for the Forbidden Journey. _Caveat: 77想吃冰淇淋_ (a Monday in spring 2026) did the Forbidden Journey at 09:00–09:40 and rode the Hippogriff coaster near dusk; Jessie去哪里呀 (Dec 2025) also starts at Harry Potter. Masked commenters report a 180-minute wait at midday (Apr 2026), about 20 minutes with early entry (Aug 2026) and about 10 minutes at night (Sept 2026). The opening time was 09:00 in these posts and 77想吃冰淇淋_ writes it is now 10:00._ (2 travelers) [source](https://www.xiaohongshu.com/explore/69cdefa60000000021004bc1)
- **Expect short rides and long lines, and avoid spinning after a meal.** Visitors who arrive with high expectations often find the park smaller and less thrilling than hoped, with several rides over in a couple of minutes after a long queue. Many rides spin, so do not ride them straight after eating or on an empty stomach. Choose the rides you care about most and check the live wait times in the app before you queue. _Caveat: 老虎王 (Jan 2026) found most rides dull apart from the Forbidden Journey and says the one-hour Ollivanders and Hippogriff queues were not worth it; Jessie去哪里呀 (Dec 2025) wrote that the park is not large and the rides can make you dizzy. These are personal views; other visitors (小葵 Jun 2025, 阵发性睡眠性 Jun 2025) rate several rides differently._ (2 travelers) [source](https://www.xiaohongshu.com/explore/695a8ff9000000002200a30e)
- **Selfie sticks and pets are not allowed in.** Leave selfie sticks and pets at home or at the luggage service, and carry the identity document tied to your ticket. Staff check bags at the gate and confiscate banned items. A power bank and comfortable shoes help over a day of 20,000 steps. _Caveat: Jessie去哪里呀 (Dec 2025) lists no selfie sticks or pets. 麦麦Muffin (Sept 2026, video) shows what was confiscated at the gate, but the list is in the video; masked commenters mention fishbone petticoat supports and fill lights, which are not counted._ [source](https://www.xiaohongshu.com/explore/69466fd4000000001e02b2aa)
- **The Explorer's Passport is a stamp book, not your own passport.** In Xiaohongshu posts 'passport' (护照) often means the park's Explorer's Passport stamp book, sold at shop tills for about ¥75–79 in Chinese and English versions. Ten stamp machines sit in shops, many at ride exits, and a hidden last stamp is given at the Hollywood darkroom (暗房) shop once all ten are done. Collect the stamps before the shops close in the evening. _Caveat: All three posts (圆脸小吴 Jun 2025, 环球小宝 Jan 2025, 哎呦喂呀 Mar 2024) are more than 12 months old, give ¥75 or ¥79 and say only the park's own booklet is stamped; check the shops for the current price and any limited editions._ (3 travelers) [source](https://www.xiaohongshu.com/explore/684ad075000000001101d453)
- **The evening castle light show is short.** The light show over the Harry Potter castle runs in the evening and lasts only a few minutes, so be in place a little early. The time changes with the season, so look it up in the app for your date. _Caveat: 77想吃冰淇淋_ (Apr 2026) lists the show at 19:20 on her day and a masked commenter (Jan 2026) says it lasted about five minutes; no operator time was read._ [source](https://www.xiaohongshu.com/explore/69cdefa60000000021004bc1)
