## Why go

Shanghai Disneyland (上海迪士尼乐园) is a full-day theme park in Pudong with eight themed lands. Two rides you will not find at most other Disney parks draw the longest queues: TRON Lightcycle Power Run and Zootopia: Hot Pursuit. Go if you or your children love Disney, and plan the day around those rides, the parades and the night show at the castle.

## What to do

- **Ride Zootopia first.** Zootopia land (疯狂动物城) is the newest land, and its Hot Pursuit ride (81 cm minimum height) builds the longest wait; an August 2026 visitor saw it reach three hours. Go there first if it matters to you.
- **Race on TRON.** TRON Lightcycle Power Run in Tomorrowland is a fast motorbike-style coaster (122 cm minimum). A March 2026 visitor waited about 15 minutes during early entry and saw 75–90 minutes after opening.
- **Join the pirates.** Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure in Treasure Cove is a boat ride built for this park, with large screens and moving sets. A 2026 guide ranks it among the top three rides.
- **Watch the castle night show.** The Enchanted Storybook Castle is the stage for the evening projection and fireworks show. Check the time in the app; good spots in front of the castle fill about an hour before it starts.
- **Catch Halloween events in October.** From 4 October to 1 November 2026 the park runs its Halloween season (怪好玩狂欢节) with a villains parade and a Zootopia 'howl' event at 17:10, 18:10 and 19:10 daily.

- Don't miss: Early Park Entry: with a 1-Day ticket and an Early Park Entry Pass you can enter up to an hour before opening, when TRON and Zootopia queues are shortest.

- Best time: Tue–Thu outside holidays; arrive before opening
- Skip if: Skip it if you have only two or three days in Shanghai and no strong interest in Disney: the park takes a full day plus about an hour each way.

## Traveler tips

- **Your passport is your ticket.** Shanghai Disneyland sells real-name tickets: each ticket is bought with one person's ID number, and foreign visitors use their passport number. At the gate staff check the original passport registered on the order, and a photo or copy is refused. Children need their own passports too. _Caveat: You should not expect the face scanner to work for passport bookings. A June 2026 visitor who bought on Trip.com with a passport simply showed it at the gate. Sealed snacks, sandwiches, small whole fruit or cut fruit in a box, unopened plastic-bottled drinks and empty flasks are fine, but cans, glass, alcohol, instant noodles or self-heating meals and durian are refused, and refused items cannot be stored at the gate. - **Take Line 11, not a car, on holidays.** Take metro Line 11 to Disney Resort station (迪士尼站) and leave by Gate 1 or Gate 4 for the park; two 2026 guides put the ride at 40–50 minutes from central Shanghai.
