### The two stations

- Two metro stations share the name National Exhibition and Convention Center (国家会展中心站): one on Line 2 (formerly East Xujing, 徐泾东) and one on Line 17 (formerly Zhuguang Road, 诸光路). They were renamed in September 2024. [5, 9, 24, 18]
- The two NECC stations are separate stations a few minutes' walk apart: to change lines you leave one station and enter the other. [8, 24]

- **Wear proper walking shoes.** A Xinhua reporter who covers CIIE every year walks 20,000–30,000 steps a day; the 2025 expo covered about 430,000 m², roughly 60 football pitches. [45]
- **Halls are far apart around the clover.** Getting to a hall in another leaf can mean walking all the way round; a visitor sat down for only 10 minutes in five hours. (Anime convention crowd (BW2025), not a trade show.) [46]
- **Evening traffic: take the metro.** An auto analyst in Shanghai for Auto Shanghai 2025 got stuck in evening rush-hour traffic on the way to a dinner in Hongqiao and wished he had taken the metro. [47]
- **Few seats: bring something to sit on.** At a 2026 fan convention at NECC, seating was scarce and people sat on the floor (one tip: use booth tote bags as mats); drinks at the in-venue stall were not marked up. (Consumer event, crowded; trade shows have more seating.) [48]
- **A media pass failed at the gate.** At Auto Shanghai 2025 a colleague's media pass, approved online, showed 'not registered' at the gate. Scalpers were also reselling tickets for 200–1,100 yuan. (Our note: keep your confirmation email and passport, and buy only from official channels.) [16]

## Where sources differ

- English name: venue's English site says 'National Convention and Exhibition Center (Shanghai)'; everyone else says 'Exhibition and Convention'.
- Total floor area: 'over 1.5 million m²' (NECC) vs 'about 1.47 million m²' (Shanghai HR&SS Bureau).
- Line 2 terminus: NECC convention page still calls NECC the Line 2 terminus; since 1 Nov 2025 the line runs one stop further to Panxiang Road.
- Station renaming date: 21 Sep 2024 (Tencent News) vs 28 Sep 2024 (Baidu Baike); ExploreMetro only says 'September 2024'.
